Mary Reid is a yoga teacher, personal trainer, and Pilates instructor. She has been teaching yoga since 2009, and has studied and trained extensively with Shiva Rea, the creator of Prana Vinyasa, Erich Schiffmann, the creator of Freedom Yoga, and Gwen Lawrence, the creator of Power Yoga for Sports. Mary is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, having earned her 200-hour certification with Shiva Rea in Prana Vinyasa, and her 300-hour certification with Gwen Lawrence as a Power Yoga for Sports Senior Elite Master Coach. Mary is also a certified Personal Trainer and Pilates Mat Instructor, and specializes in functional movement and mindfulness training, rooted in anatomical alignment, biomechanics, and neuroscience. A dedicated practitioner of mindfulness meditation, Mary infuses her teaching with mindfulness techniques to promote deep awareness of mind and body and facilitate transformation through mindful movement. A lover of movement since childhood, Mary grew up training in ballet, and later found her great loves of yoga, martial arts, Pilates and strength training as pathways of personal transformation. A lifelong student and practitioner of Ayurveda, Mary is developing a Power Yoga for Sports course about the application of Ayurvedic principles and Power Yoga for Sports practices for injury prevention, sport sustainability and peak performance.
